I think people are going to be too harsh on this, but I like the film. The flashbacks were.unnecessary, and while it did add the concept of self-sacrifice, any other backstory could have done this, or no backstory at all. You cannot have a horror action film without good camera work. Rapid jump cuts and angle changes are not immersive, they suck. The biggest issue for the film would be the mediocre action and horror scenes, which reminds me of a certain few fight scenes from Suicide Squad. The themes of parental protection work to elevate this film above your usual horror fanfare in many ways, but it alone does not justify a rewatch. Why should I give a crap about whether anyone else lives or dies? I do for Carl because he's a cunt, and I care enough to see him die. Here, it's a bit weaker since in that film, the main character not only is characterized by his love for his daughter, but coming to an understanding with several other characters, who had their own struggles.īlood Red Sky is much weaker because it focused mostly on Elias and Nadja, rather than either of them to Farid, or any other passenger. It actually reminds of Train to Busan, which was elevated from simply "zombies on x" precisely because the writers developed emotional weight through characterizing the relationships. Focusing on the parental relationship gives this film the emotional weight it needs to be distinguished from other films. I didn't particularly cared about anyone else except for Farid, and Carl, the latter whom I wanted to see die a fairly painful death, but this isn't a huge issue for me. What held the film together was our main two leads, which give off the best and most substantial performances of the film. ![]() It was a fine film, and worth a watch at least. I at least got a bittersweet ending where Elias and Farid both survived, and presumably Elias was adopted by Farid. In this case, I am talking about RAF's incredibly humane treatment of Farid, when he most likely would have been shot and killed in any other circumstances. One of the few moments where I am happy people acted unrealistically. The plot actually wasn't a bad idea and the graphics are pleasing but such awful characters. It had a lot of potential but most of the characters ( besides the son, mom, and guy who took the son) in the end were so unfinished and eight ball was just written by a bunch of 13 year old Tumblr emo kid. I mean my brows were furrowed over half the movie out of how so unenjoyable it was. ![]() He was really just written to be too "witty" and overpowering? Hes supposed to be a sociopath but comes off as just "this is awful and his character doesn't make any sense besides being this horribly written hardcore no emotion guy who knew everything before anyone else and is constantly 3 steps ahead?". ![]() He is so egotistical and the writing allows it but not in a good villain way. There's a difference between a well written villain and just one that logically doesn't make sense, for me I watched it annoyed before the 30 minute mark. I know im SUPER late but I don't get the boy slander? Eightball was by far what ruined it for me. What is your opinion about "Blood Red Sky?" ![]() I know that this is a discussion about "Blood Red sky", but i really enjoy comparing movies to understand each one better. In "Blood Red Sky", you have the feeling that anyone is in danger, but i didn't have this feeling while watching the Fear Street movies, and i think it's because they were too concerned about the relationship between Deena and Sam, while the killers and other characters aren't that important, but in "Blood Red Sky, everyone is treated equal, the terrorists, the vampires and the victms. How different was this movie compared to the Fear Street ones, and it isn't because the Fear Street movies are for teens, i personally think that the Fear street movies didn't balance well the drama and the horror, i also had the impressiom that i was watching two different movies. But in "Blood Red Sky, you feel that the drama is part of the horror,it isn't a separate thing, they did a amazing job in balancing the drama and horror in Blood Red Sky. I REALLY liked this new vampire movie that premiered on Netflix today! The vampires were amazing, the tension was amazing and the kills were great. We also had a lot of emotional momments between the mother and the son, and this is somenthing that i want to compare to the Fear Street movies, that were also released by Netflix.Potential spoilers ahead.
